WACCBIP Research Conference

The WACCBIP Research Conference is an annual showcase of the research conducted at the Centre by its faculty and fellows, and the research conducted in collaboration with its partners across the world. The Conference also features talks from world-leading researchers and industry stalwarts, who have strong connections to the Centre.

First organised in 2016, the 3-day Conference has grown into a yearly festival of Science that attracts more than 300 scientists from world-class institutions across the globe to the University of Ghana each year.

WACCBIP Tenth Anniversary and 8th Research Conference: Registration and Call for Abstracts

The West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) is pleased to announce the opening of registration and call for abstracts for the eighth WACCBIP Research Conference (WRC2024) scheduled to be held from July 29-August 02, 2024.

This year holds special significance as the conference coincides with the Centre's remarkable milestone of its tenth anniversary since inception. The theme of this year's conference, "Addressing Health Challenges in Africa: A Decade of Building World-class and Innovative Scientific Capacity," reflects the journey and achievements of WACCBIP over the past ten years.

We invite researchers, scholars, and professionals from across the globe to participate in this milestone event. Share your insights, findings, and innovations as we collectively explore avenues to tackle health challenges in Africa and beyond. Join us as we celebrate a decade of fostering world-class scientific capacity and fostering innovative solutions.

Still keeping with the post-pandemic related developments, this year’s conference will be a hybrid event, offering more flexibility and even greater networking opportunities. This means there will still be a large in-person component in the WACCBIP Conference Hall at the University of Ghana in Accra, Ghana, plus a virtual component.
