WACCBIP/WACCI STAFF RETOOL WORKSHOP
In our quest to attract, retain and retool staff and faculty in areas relevant to projects run at the Centre, staff from the West African Center for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens and West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement participated in a 3-day staff retool workshop organized by Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) from 19-21, April 2017at Fiesta Royale hotel, Accra.
This workshop was facilitated by Mr. Daniel Aryee-Deputy Manager Accounting Advisory Services, Mr. Nyanyo Sowah – Manager Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance, Mrs. Emmanuella Dua-Sakyi- Senior Technical Consultant and Mr. Kwame S Barnieh-Senior Manager Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance. The team from KPMG took participants from both Centres through the following thematic areas: Governance, Project Management and Strategy/Compliance. Participants at the workshop were engaged in breakout sessions where they brainstormed on some of the topics discussed. There were also question and answer sessions where pertinent questions and key contributions were made.
At the closure of the 3-day workshop, participants were confident that they had been exposed to different effective tools and techniques to deal with issues concerning governance at the workplace, project management and strategic planning. Professor Gordon Awandare, the Director of WACCBIP officially closed the workshop and thanked both trainers and participants for dedicating time to come and learn. He further encouraged participants to fully utilize the new skills and techniques at the workplace to increase their productivity. Certificates of participation were presented to participants at the end of the workshop.
