Third ACE Project Workshop – Banjul, The Gambia
The third African Centres of Excellence (ACE) workshop was held at the Kairaba Beach Resort, Kololi, Banjul, The Gambia from the 12th to 14th May, 2015. Present at the meeting were representatives from the 19 ACEs in West and Central Africa, the Association of African Universities, the World Bank and the Project Steering Committee.

A progress report was presented by each ACE and some strategies for achievement of best results were outlined. Issues discussed also included
- Financial management strategies
- Monitoring and Evaluation reports
- Disbursement measures
- Next key steps for ACEs
Dr. Gordon Awandare delivered a presentation on the current status of WACCBIP. He highlighted on key grants/awards received by WACCBIP students since the commencement of the project, student enrollment numbers and some measures being designed to ensure good academic quality.
During his speech at the closing ceremony, Dr. Gordon Awandare stressed on the importance of funding and networking to grooming the next generation of scientists who will contribute positively to societal/African development.
